Community Bike Workshops
By: Bikes 4 Life
Feb 1, 2014

For the past 18 months, on every Sunday, we have held bike workshops and open days for the wider community. Volunteers repair and restore the bikes and engage in positive community action. Bikes 4 Life supply entertainment and food to the volunteers along with a family friendly environment with children actively involved in bike repairs, painting and testing the bikes once repaired.

Our workshops are currently operating in Melbourne and Sydney. Melbourne workshops are held every Sunday and Wednesday at 26 Gwynne St. Cremorne (between 12 and 5pm) and open to the wider community. Tools are provided and there is no experience necessary. All ages welcome! You can attend as a volunteer helping fix bikes, or just help out generally in the workshop… Or you can just come by and visit us, meet the team, and see what we do first hand! We love visitors so please come and see us!!

Sydney workshops are ran by Chris Roe from FUEL CDI. While they are not as regular as Melbourne, they are are usually held once a month or so. Sydney’s Bikes 4 Life workshop events are a really big, eventful day. There’s always a large turnout, a big BBQ is put on, and its a great family friendly environment that really works… Saturday Disney host Tiegan Nash attended our last workshop and helped out with basic bike maintenance – so you’ll just never know who’ll you’ll see! The events are well advertised and you can always check back here on our Events Page or on our Facebook Page for updates and event details! Alternatively you can email [email protected] and ask to be put on a mailing list so you can be contacted when there are workshops on!
